CORE 2005 Spring Meeting Report
More than 120 health and development professionals attended CORE's 2005 Spring Membership Meeting, April 18-22 in West Point, NY, to discuss methodologies and strategies for scaling up global child health programs; exchange technical information; and discuss new strategic directions for CORE. The agenda booklet, a participant list, and meeting powerpoint presentations are now available online.

Dory Storms Award Update
CORE is pleased to announce that outgoing CORE Board Chair Robb Davis is the 2005 recipient of the Dory Storms Award, given annually to recognize leadership and courage in improving the health of the poorest-of-the-poor mothers, children and infants in underserved communities throughout the world. Biographies and photos of current and past award honorees are available on the CORE site.

Curamericas' CBIO Methodology Resource Guide
Over the past 20 years, Curamericas has developed and tested a model of health service delivery called the Census-Based, Impact-Oriented (CBIO) approach. The approach is a community-based primary health care model that allows local health care staff to better understand and more effectively treat the most common causes of sickness and death within their communities. Curamericas' CBIO Resource Guide, produced with support from CORE, provides information on where, when and how to implement the strategy.

World Relief Case Study: Malaria Control in Mozambique
This World Relief/CORE case study titled "Community-based Solutions for Effective Malaria Control: Lessons from Mozambique" looks at World Relief's use of the volunteer-driven "Care Group" model to build health system and community capacity for malaria control in Gaza Province, Mozambique.

Nutrition Working Group Web Page Redesign
CORE recently redesigned its Nutrition Working Group web page to streamline access to tools, resources, reports, and useful links, and provide timely information on Working Group activities. Web page resources address topics such as micronutrient deficiency, breastfeeding and the PD/Hearth approach. The redesign is the first in a series of eight Working Group web page redesigns scheduled in coming weeks.
