Breda Gahan provided some background/context to begin the discussion. The program’s goal is to contribute to a sustainable reduction in maternal and child mortality and morbidity, and increased life expectancy, in the Kibilizi Health District, Butare Region, of Rwanda. The program purpose is to improve the health status of the population of Kibilizi district through capacity building for high quality and sustainable health services, and by empowering communities for better health with locally available resources.
